It’s something I look at very early on when working with someone.
You could be having the “right” foods, however you are just having too much of them at each sitting.
The average circumference of the dinner plate has gone up over the years so naturally people are having bigger servings to “fill up the plate “.
There is also an Irish culture of finish whatever is on your plate, that probably stems from harder times when we didn’t know when our next meal would be coming so fill your boots when you can.
So some takeaway points would be:
- Eat off smaller plates.
- Slow down, put the cutlery down, have a chat.
- Aim to not let yourself get to “over hunger” as you will naturally make poorer choices in the kitchen.
Portion control is just another strategy to try reduce your overall calories but will also improve your digestion as a bonus.
